The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), has approved the construction of a state-of-the-art wholesale fish market at Pandara, Bhubaneswar. The project is meant to strengthen fisheries marketing infrastructure in Odisha and improve the handling and sale of fish in an urban market setting.
The approved project has a total cost of ₹59.13 crore and includes 44 wholesale units and 99 retail units. The Government of Odisha has reported that the land reclamation stage has been completed.
