ABDM progress update: ABHA creation and registry coverage (HFR, HPR) as of 20 July 2026

- The Ministry reported that state-wise and district-wise distribution for ABDM coverage data is available on the real-time ABDM dashboard.
What happened
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported an ABDM progress snapshot as of 20 July 2026. The government stated that 94.87 crore ABHAs have been created across India, and it reported the registration coverage of two ABDM registries—Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR).
Background and earlier position
ABDM’s ABHA identity creation and the Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) enable a unified, verified base for health data exchange. UPSC can frame the update as registry-driven governance: what registries verify, how coverage supports continuity of care, and what implementation risks (data quality, exclusion, consent and privacy) must be managed.
