What happened

The Quality Council of India (QCI) and the National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen quality, competitiveness and market access for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. The MoU is for five years and will be implemented through a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) that will meet every quarter.

Why this is important

The agreement is significant because MSMEs often face gaps in certification, testing, branding, digital discoverability and export readiness. By linking QCI’s expertise in quality, accreditation and certification with NSIC’s MSME support ecosystem, the partnership aims to convert scattered schemes into a more unified support framework.

Key features of the MoU

The collaboration seeks to integrate key national initiatives and improve the supply-side ecosystem for MSMEs.
