What happened: MSDE links AI skilling to the unified SIDH platform through SOAR
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) developed the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) as a Digital Public Infrastructure for India’s skilling ecosystem. MSDE says SIDH brings training, assessment, certification, employment-related services and entrepreneurship services onto one unified platform, allowing training providers, employers and government schemes to onboard into a common interoperable ecosystem.
MSDE also uses SIDH to deliver the Skilling for AI Readiness (SOAR) initiative. SOAR is presented as a fully online, self-paced AI learning programme delivered through SIDH by NCVET-recognised Awarding Bodies, with nationally recognised courses aligned to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
Background and earlier position: multiple skilling services and digital interfaces
MSDE positions SIDH as a way to move India’s skilling ecosystem onto a single unified platform. The stated goal is to reduce fragmentation by enabling one interface for training, certification and employment-related opportunities.
MSDE describes SIDH as mobile-first and interoperable with several Government platforms, including National Career Service, eShram, DigiLocker and BHASHINI. Interoperability means SIDH can connect with other Government services instead of functioning as an isolated system.
