What happened (MSDE’s announced AI skilling integration across schemes)
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced a coordinated integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into India’s national skilling ecosystem. MSDE linked AI learning to multiple skill delivery channels—digital learning on SIDH, industry-aligned training under PMKVY 4.0, apprenticeship promotion under NAPS, and vocational training in ITIs under the Directorate General of Training (DGT) and upgraded ITIs under PM-SETU.
Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) and SOAR (AI literacy and job-ready pathways)
MSDE launched the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) as a unified Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) platform to serve as a core technology-driven skilling platform. Under SIDH, MSDE launched the Skilling for AI Readiness (SOAR) programme on 22.07.2025 to promote AI literacy and prepare learners for an AI-enabled future.
SOAR started with four fully online, self-paced, National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)-aligned, credit-linked foundational learner courses available on SIDH:
