What happened: MSDE reported women training in emerging technologies under Skill India Mission
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) reported women’s participation in skill, re-skill and up-skill training through the Government of India’s Skill India Mission (SIM). MSDE states SIM training is delivered through multiple schemes using a network of skill development centres: Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
MSDE states the Rajya Sabha reply provides details of women candidates trained in emerging technologies—Artificial Intelligence, semiconductor design and renewable energy—for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26. MSDE also states that annexures include year-wise women training numbers under PMKVY, NAPS, JSS and CTS, state-wise women training details under major schemes (with specified coverage periods up to 30.06.2026), district-wise details for Andhra Pradesh, and year-wise/state-wise funds released under MSDE schemes since 2018-19 / since 2015-16 (as applicable).
Background and earlier position: scheme-wise delivery and monitoring scope in the MSDE framework
MSDE describes scheme-wise roles and administration under SIM:
PMKVY delivers training through a short-term training component, and MSDE states placement tracking is linked to PMKVY version scope.JSS implements through NGOs (non-governmental organisations), and MSDE states fund release goes directly to NGOs.NAPS supports apprentices through a stipend route, and MSDE states DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) enables stipend support up to Rs. 1500 per month.CTS operates through ITIs, and MSDE states daily administration and financial control for CTS lies with the concerned State/Union Territory (State/UT).
