What happened: MSDE aligns Skill India Mission training with emerging technologies
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) reported in a Rajya Sabha written reply that Government skill development programmes aim to bridge skill gaps across emerging technology sectors. MSDE links training to market needs through Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), and it states that Skill India Mission (SIM) delivers skill, re-skill and up-skill training through a network of skill development centres under schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), and National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).
What MSDE says is the technology focus: AI, automation, Industry 4.0 and digital skills
MSDE stated that evolving skill requirements are aligned with emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and digital collaboration tools. The Government’s SIM approach is described as enabling youth to become “future-ready” with industry-relevant skills, including skills related to automation and other emerging technologies.
Key SIM-related initiatives and programme features mentioned
MSDE listed multiple initiatives across ministries and implementation partners to re-align skilling with technology demand.
