What happened (government update on Mission Shakti services)

The Ministry of Women and Child Development reported progress under Mission Shakti, a programme that strengthens interventions for women safety, security and empowerment. Mission Shakti has two verticals: “Sambal” for safety and security of women, and “Samarthya” for empowerment of women across the country.

Under the Sambal vertical, the Government uses two core service channels for women affected by violence and those in distress in private and public spaces: One Stop Centre (OSC) and Women Helpline (181).

One Stop Centres (OSCs) — integrated support under one roof

One Stop Centre (OSC) provides integrated and immediate support and assistance under one roof to women affected by violence and women in distress. OSC services include medical aid, legal aid and advice, temporary shelter, police assistance and psycho-social counselling.
